Split Ends Remedy

23 October 2015

Hi all! I'm super excited to launch my newest 'DIY' tab here on Brocade Closet, I hope you all find some neat inspiration!  I'm a lover of crafting so it's not a surprise that I would introduce DIY Friday, what's more surprising is how long it took me to actually introduce it haha.  Anyway, one question I get often is how I maintain my hair and how I get it to grow long so fast.  My secret is simple and I'm so excited to share it with you all!  Something I've always struggled with when growing my hair out are split ends.  Split ends are seriously inevitable, but before thinking of just chopping your hair off, think of other resolutions!  For all of us non-trained hair and beauty experts, we're pretty much left doomed to experiment with hair remedies until something ultimately works out.  That's exactly how I found my hair care remedy, and trust me, it's worked out so fabulously since I've started.  The remedy is simple, see below for steps and ingredients!

You'll Need:
1 egg yolk
1 tbsp of melted coconut oil
1 tbsp of olive oil
1 tbsp of honey
Gloves (optional)
Comb (optional)

Steps:
1. Toss all ingredients in a bowl together and whisk the mixture.
2. If you're using a comb, dip the comb into the mixture and then brush it through your split ends.  If you're not using a comb, simply dab your ends into the mixture and spread as you would with regular shampoo.
3.  Cover all ends in this mixture, and with the left over, apply it to the rest of your hair-it doesn't hurt to have extra shiny hair!
4. When you're done applying the mixture, simply grab a hair tie and toss your hair up into a bun (or pony tail, whatever works best)
5. Leave the mixture in for about a half an hour, and then wash your hair with regular shampoo as you usually would.
6. Let your hair air dry after you've washed it and then you're all done!

This split ends hair remedy is really that simple and doesn't require you to perform it every day.  I suggest applying this remedy once or twice a week to help mend those ends gradually, and aside from just your split ends, this is generally a great hair mask to add to ones beauty routine!  I hope this works for you all just like it has worked for me, let me know if you guys have any questions and if there are other routines that have worked for you guys, let ME know!! I'd love to try :)

  1. Love it!
I have really thin hair, I get split ends easily. I tried this yesterday and left it on for about 15-30 minutes. Omg! It feels like I got a Brazilian blowout. Totally recommend it. Thanks Melissa!!!!
