The Lion and The Tin Man Costume

27 October 2019

Hi! I'm back with another doggy and me costume that I've actually been wanting to do for YEARS.  Growing up, I had a yellow lab that I always wanted to put in a lion costume and sadly never did, so Nacho got the short end of that costume wish haha. To be fair, Nacho's personality definitely matches The Lion from The Wizard of Oz! My big guy is a rescue and super scared of a lot of things, if not all the things lol. I'd say it's super cute but also really sad that he's so anxious! Anyway, this costume was SO easy to put together and took very little effort.  All I did was add a red felt heart to a dress I already had and made a "funnel" out of silver card stock paper. I'll link Nacho's lion costume and a few silver dress options you can get on time before Halloween! Okay, here's how to make this costume:

Eggs and Bacon Costume

07 October 2019

This is Halloween, this is Halloween! I can’t believe my Halloween costume series is here and per yesterday’s post I can’t believe I’m writing this lol. This year, I thought it would be fun to incorporate a series with my son, Nacho, because it’ll be the first year we celebrate one of my favorite holidays together! Growing up, I had a dog that my mom dressed up every year and going into this year, I knew I would have to do the same for my little boy. Finding ‘dog and me’ costumes is kind of hard though because the selection out there can kind of be limited so in true Melissa fashion, this year I’m thinking up fun and super inexpensive ways to dress your furry friend up. This week, we’re each others’ favorite breakfast combination: bacon and eggs. Alright, let’s learn how to make these costumes, that mind you cost all but $5 to make lol.

Hello, old friend.

Is this thing still on? Hi! My goodness it’s been months and a lot has happened. As you guys know, I have a career that I’m so devoted to and the last time we chatted on here was the day things changed. Long story short, my team moved on in their careers and I was left straddling multiple roles. Busy is an understatement but boy did I learn A LOT in those short few months.

Mexican Rice Recipe

You know that one family member who can cook up a whole lot of goodness? That person in my life is my tia Georgina.  My aunt has tons of recipes that I die to learn and perfect just like her, but spin into healthier versions of the real deal, obvi!  With being almost three months into marriage, my biggest task has been to cook for two - basically four with the way Martin eats lol.

Two Nine One Nine

18 March 2019

We’re married! We did the damn thing and it was a complete dream. The last month and change has felt like a whole year has already passed since our wedding day which is crazy because I remember feeling like the last month before the wedding came and went in a blink of an eye.  We looked forward to the wedding for so long and it felt like a distant present that was just waiting for us.

How I Pack For A Trip

08 January 2019

It's almost time for another vacation in my life and I'm heading off to somewhere I've never been before.  Even if I've never been there, it still feels very familiar given that it's another beach where all I have to do is throw on a bathing suit and sip on a cocktail - my absolute favorite thing EVER.  Sure packing a bunch of bathing suits is easy but there's still something about the packing process that might feel like you're literally moving your life haha.  I'm notorious for packing everything but JUST enough to get me by so in this post, I'll be sharing my top three tips to packing a carry-on generously and still having it all together.  You ready for this vacay!?

Cheers To The New Year!

01 January 2019

Hello 2019 and hello babes (and some guys that might read this!) It's the new year and with that comes A TON of opportunities to evolve.  Last year was a lot busier than I expected it to be, a year full of ups and downs, but nonetheless all lessons and blessings.  With so much to look forward to in 2019, I wanted to reflect and share what I'm most looking forward to and chat about a few goals I'd love to accomplish.  What'll be interesting is to come back on December 31st to read how well I did - who is going to sign up to keep me accountable!  Alright, let's get down with the get down.
