Turmeric Latte Recipe

23 April 2020

Hey hey! I couldn't possibly jump into yet ANOTHER month without an update on here and boy do I have an UPDATE! Here's my big announcement that I might take back the second I go back to working in an office. My news is I don't think I'm a coffee kind of girl anymore - huh and how is that even possible? Here's why!

So I've been tracking what foods and beverages bloat me and coffee is unfortunately part of that list. It might honestly be the creamer which is super unfortunate because I do not like black coffee at all, so there's that! However, aside from just the bloating, I've noticed that it feels super acidic to me and I just don't really care for how it tastes either. Super weird right!? Not like I even need it to "wake me up" because we all know coffee doesn't actually wake you up right? Water does, says Dr. Oz and science haha. At this point it feels like it's something I trained myself to get into the routine of and it's not to say I'll never have a cup of coffee again because I'm sure I will, I just know I'll be cutting back!

To kick the habit, I turned to teas which have been great and also revisited matcha lattes that I'm not mad about either! This weekend though, I found a turmeric latte recipe on Pinterest that did not fail me. First of all, turmeric is SO good for you and linked to pain relief, helping with digestive issues and helps with inflammation which is a common reason for discomfort - all of this also learned from Dr. Oz and other research. While I'm convinced I need to have turmeric every day of my life, it doesn't taste THAT great by itself. However, when you blend it with a few yummy ingredients it all goes away and you have yourself a great anti-inflammatory drink to kick off your day! Here's what you need and how to make this latte.

Ingredients
(makes one 8 oz cup)

  • 1/2 cup of boiled water
  • 3/4 cup of vanilla almond milk - or whatever milk you use
  • 1 tsp of ground turmeric
  • 1/2 tsp of cinnamon
  • 2 tsp of maca powder - you can also use cacao powder and it tastes even better!
  • 1 spoonful or tsp of honey - this will depend on how sweet you want this to taste
How To
  • In a blender, combine your boiled water and cold milk. I don't really care to heat up my milk because it makes it easier to drink this right after everything is blended.
  • Add the rest of your ingredients to the blender and blend until smooth.
  • Give it a taste test and see if you need to add more maca or cacao powder or if it's too sweet add more turmeric.
  • Pour in a coffee cup and enjoy!
**note: If you'd like a cold version of this, you can always opt out of boiling the water and leaving it cold then adding ice to your cup after all ingredients have been blended.

Hope you guys give this a try! I promise it's super delish with maca powder but it's absolutely delicious with cacao powder instead. Getting over coffee doesn't sound too awful if it means I substituted for something better, right? Chat with you guys soon!

Xo,
Melissa Victoria
