Annnddd I’m officially the worst at keeping up-many apologies guys.  But at least I’m back with my favorite, a style post and good news!  I recently discovered an LA based online shop that caters to designer coveters at extremely inexpensive prices.  LeJolie sells designer pieces at up to 70% off original retail prices, approves shoppers for $1,000.00 usable towards LeJolie purchases and offers affordable payment plans.  This online shop is fully equipped with clothes for the entire family to enjoy, including vintage finds and home décor.  My first LeJolie purchase? A pair of pinstripe culottes-obviously!

Kay, I’m not even lying when I say I’ve been dying for a pair of culottes since Monica Rose released her Lovers and Friends collection last year.  A whole year of wishing for a pair of culottes felt like way longer until I recently purchased a pair of floral ones and now these pinstriped ones!  So excited to wear these all summer and pair them up in both casual and dressy settings.  This particular pair was screaming at the crop top section in my closet because of the high waist detail-and let’s face it, I’m too chicken to wear crop tops any other way, so this was the perfect opportunity.  Oh and my shoes?  Diane Von Furstenberg pumps FABULOUSLY found in the clearance section of Saks Off 5th, ultra score!

Shop my outfit and similar items and don’t forget to visit LeJolie!

Holistic Puppy Products

01 May 2015

So the other day, I was hanging out with my little furry nephew and realized, dogs deserve good stuff too!  As mentioned in my previous post, I'm slightly obsessed with organic products and am dying to see how well my nephew, Rocky, soaks in the lifestyle.  It's no joke he's completely bored of his current food (as I'm assuming most dogs are), so I've made a small list of holistic dog products I can't wait to test out!  See all the fun below....xo, Brocade Closet.

1. Max & Ruffy's

This is a dog treat brand that so proudly offers eco-friendly treats using only the freshest 100% organic, non-genetically modified organisms, and human-grade ingredients.  Max & Ruffy's treats come in several different tasty flavors including Strawberry & Carob, Butternut Squash & Kelp, W.P. Pizza, Sweet Potato & Alfalfa and many more.  This entire line of nutritious dog treats include both wheat and grain free dog treats and come in two packaging sizes including original and mini bites.  Shop these tasty, nutritious and inexpensive treat bags here, or click here to find out where you can shop Max & Ruffy's at your local store!

2. Himalayan Dog Chew

This dog food brand is 100% natural, contains no preservatives and is composed of milk naturally cultivated by farmers in Nepal.  These farmers are properly trained and milk about 2-5 cows and yaks every day using traditional methods-no funky tools!  Most importantly, the cattle are fed natural leaves from the forest and are held in natural pastures.  Among all yummy treats, I prefer Yaky Crunch.  Rocky has a hard time chewing hard food so this snack is perfect, not too soft and not too hard.  Ingredients include yak and/or cow milk and all natural products that produce a cheesy flavor. Learn about these products here and find out where these treats are sold here.

3. Himalayan Dog Chew

Hold on, one more product I'm adding to my check out cart-Yaky Stick! Ingredients include yak and cow milk, beef, salt and lime juice.  These sticks come in two different sizes, 6 inches or 12 inches, one for dogs under 25 pounds and another for dogs under 50 pounds.  Yaky Stick's are basically Himalayan Dog Chews wrapped around a Bully Stick without the use of binding agents or glue products.  Bully Sticks come from all free-range grass fed cattle and provide dogs with essential proteins while Himalayan Dog Chews provide them with essential minerals.  They look tasty to me, take a look for yourself here

4. The Honest Kitchen

This brand might be one of my favorites for the simple fact that they produce dehydrated pet food, and do so in a human food facility, giving it the same quality standards as foods we eat.  The Honest Kitchen uses organic products, never use GMO produce and made from the most pristine, whole food ingredients available.  This brand offers a wide variety of selections from dog and cat food to treats to a recipe book-seriously, what started out as a kitchen experiment turned into several amazing products and I'm so excited for my nephew to indulge!  Find The Honest Kitchen at your local store here :)

Side Note + Easy Snack

20 April 2015

When did I turn into such a stranger?!  The last month of my life has been so full of several different emotions ranging from triumph, defeat and fear.  It was a month full of life lessons and as I now reflect on all that was learned, I feel like I've cultivated a new fire under me to continue making life what I've always imagined it to be.  Le sighhhhh enough of this side note, let's get into the fun part!

I've recently discovered the world of organic food shopping (I know I'm way behind) but I'm so obsessed with this lifestyle.  The food tastes amazing, the recipe's are simple and I'm enjoying every single bit of it!  My food habits took a dramatic turn a few years ago when my dad suffered a severe heart attack and made me open my eyes real wide to the pattern I was following.  I've kind of developed this phobia of being diagnosed with some sort of disease that it's motivated me (for the best!) to clean up my body.  I've become more conscious of my food intake, what type of food I eat, how I cook it and how often I exercise.  I used to be an avid snacker, I would get real full off of just snacks and then feel so sick later on.  Flash forward a few years later, I've learned that snacking is okay, but making better snack choices makes a WORLD of a difference.  One of my new favorite snacks is watermelon with feta.  Watermelon is so deliciously fresh, it's a great source of both Vitamin A and C, and gets you real full without the guilt.  I'm a cheese lover but also understand I can't consume so much of it, therefore I choose a healthier type of cheese like Feta!  See the basic instructions below, enjoy eating this snack and don't forget to thank me later ;)!

You'll Need

  • 1 Small Watermelon-Or however big you want, I bought mine at Sprouts
  • 1 tub of Feta cheese-Purchased my little tub from Sprouts for like $4
  • A few mint leaves for taste (Optional)-I luckily have a mint plant in my patio, so I just picked a few off

Instructions

  • On a cutting board, cut your watermelon-super basic lol.  I usually cut it in half and then in half again, don't really get too crazy with my cutting method.  I cut huge blocks first, then minimize them into small square bites.
  • If you've used mint, sprinkle a few mint leaves over the watermelon and let them sit for about 10 minutes to really grab that fresh taste.
  • Finally, it's time to indulgeeeee.  Pour your desired amount of watermelon on a plate, bowl or in a cup and sprinkle your Feta all over the top.

Super simple, super delicious!

Music Monday: Bon Iver

09 March 2015

Today on Music Monday, I bring you my weekend muse-Bon Iver. I was on an acoustic rut all Sunday morning and felt so compelled to share one of my favorite Bon Iver songs. Justin Vernon of Bon Iver has been melting my heart ever since Iver's debut album, For Emma, Forever Ago. I think as a whole, that album is beautifully written and composed-not to mention the romantic thought of that album being recorded in a northwestern Wisconsin cabin during the Winter season. I have a few favorite songs on For Emma, Forever Ago, but the song that I usually tend to replay is, For Emma. The mellow mood of the song makes me see vintage skies and wish for an eternal summer by the beach. Take a listen and tell me you don't wish for the same! Hope you all enjoy the song and don't forget to listen to the entire album-have a happy Monday!
