How To Make a Bow Hair Tie

28 May 2018

Hey guys!  Just wanted to pop in and give written instructions on how to make this easy bow hair tie. I've seen them all over the place and think they're so cute for the beach, pool or just to step your hair game up.  If you don't know how to sew or have a sewing (I used a serger) machine, don't worry!  You can still make this with no sew fabric glue - like this one.  Let's go over how to make this super hair tie!

You'll Need

1 Scrunchie
Scissors
Fabric of your Choice
Tie Template - Optional (I used a hair tie I already had)
Measuring Tape
Fabric Glue - No Sew Optional

How To

1. If you are using a hair tie as a template, measure it to see how big you want your new tie to be.  Mine measured out to 8 1/2 inches long on all four sides and ended up cutting 9 inches for seam allowance. If you are not using a template, go ahead and cut about 8 inches on all four sides.
2. Once you've cut your square, take it to your sewing machine and sew a zig-zag stitch all around to lock in the raw edges.  If you have a serger machine, simply sew all around.  If you do not have access to a machine or know how to sew, simply add fabric glue all around the raw edge of the tie.
3. Take two opposite ends of the square and pull to stretch it out.
4. Slip it through the scrunch and make a knot.  Adjust the bow as you'd like and you're ready to use it!

Seriously took like five minutes to make and now my only problem is wanting a thousand hair ties in different colors and prints haha.  Have fun making these, friends!  Chat with you guys soon.

Xo,
Melissa Victoria
